April Jane Parade of The Adventure Begins! (Release 3)

Hellooooo pretty-pretties, it's already APRIL!

I dunno how that happened, but it means that I have another gorgeous Matilda Jane release to share with you, owwww! And I'm pretty sure.....this is my favorite release of spring so far. It is GORGEOUS! You must, must see this.

So let's do this thang.

Just to remind you, all Women's items are available in XS - XL, and you can find them all by shopping my website, HERE! I am 5'5" and typically wear a size 4-6, or a small in Matilda Jane.

I didn't expect this first piece to hop to the top of my favorite's list, but somehow it did!

Matilda Jane In The Maze Top MJC Women's In The Maze

It's called the In The Maze Top, and it's gorgeously flowy and comfy. My very favorite part of it is the back, with its V-neck, and girly off-the shoulder style:

In The Maze Back View

On the right you can see it with leggings & my hair up...it's wildly cute both ways! Also, siiiiigh, I swear I will have better pictures someday. These past few months have not been generous with lighting.

Aaaaanyways. I'm wearing it in a small - it runs maybe slightly big, but I think I like it this size.

Next up is a crowd fav - the Picket Fences Top. This one caught my eye immediately (florals! stripes! polka dots! my fashion love languages), and in person it is soft and flowy and sweet.

In these pictures, I'm wearing the sample size which is a Large, so I have it pinned both times. I'm ordering this one in a small, so hopefully the fit works the way I expect it will. PS, don't miss the closeup of the floral in the lower right corner...so gorge!

Ooh, ooh! Another very-very fav is the vault dress, Always Flowers. It is sooooo pretty! The structured lower skirt, and the stretchy, flattering fitted pink stripes on top make for a perfectly girly, comfortable dress. I still can't get over the price on this one - it's like half of what MJ dresses usually go for! PLUS - the skirt fabric perfectly matches the vest from Friends Forever if you happen to have it ;)

LOVE! As of this writing, it's only available in XS, S & M so if that's you, don't wait! I'm wearing a small above.

My next favorite is actually a tween top - I haven't ordered it yet because I'm still debating on sizing - this is a 12 in the pictures, and it fits everywhere except the arm holes (so I'd say this runs large, and works really well as women's top!)

Matilda Jane Tween Trampolining Top

So cute, right? It's called the Trampolining Top, and it's available in sizes 8-16 (14 usually runs like a women's XS, and 16 like a women's S...but this one may even fit a medium in the 16.)

I really like this other tween tank, too, but I think this one is running a little more true to size:

Matilda Jane Tween Three Legged Race Tank

It's a little more sporty, and the tags that came with it said that the trim will intentionally fray a little to look a little vintage. Love that! This is called the Three Legged Race Tank, and if you love it in a women's size, I'd say grab a 16 for a size small! This sample I'm wearing is a 12.

Here's another beautiful girly top that's perfect for summer:

Matilda Jane Bocce Ball Top MJ Women's Yellow Shirt

The back though, right? (Heart eyes.) I love the color of this top with dark jeans and shorts. This one is called the Bocce Ball Top, and it runs a little large. I'm wearing an XS in this picture and I like the way this one fits, which is a size smaller than I normally get. If you're normally an XS and think this would be too big for you - no fear.

There's a tween version that's exactly the same except it's a lighter shade of yellow, and the size 16 also fits me perfectly! It's called the Tether Ball Top. Just...don't be like me and try it on with a black bra ;)

Matilda Jane Tether Ball Top MJ Tween Yellow Top

Here's a top that has surprised me...you can even see in this picture, I've got my "oh, this is pretty cute," face on - ha! It feels very airy, girly, and summery. My friend said that it has a Lilly Pulitzer vibe to it - totally. Love that.

Matilda Jane Wandering Waters Top

It's called the Wandering Waters Top, and there's an almost identical tween version if you want to get matchy-matchy with this one. In the photo, I'm wearing a medium, but it's clipped in the back.

Next up (I know, can you believe how much there is for women in this release?!) is a very girly summery top, that can totally be worn in many different styles. I feel like this fits anything from boho chic, to casual...sort of country, to girly and dressy. It's super versatile and feminine!

There are a lot of lacy peekabo areas, and the fabric itself is a bit sheer, so it's a must-layer - I had a nude cami on under it in this picture.

Matilda Jane Morning Dew Top White

This one is called the Morning Dew Top, and I'm wearing a medium in the picture that I've pinned in the back.

Okay, who is ready for a summer maxi?

I give you, The Road Ahead Maxi Dress:

Matilda Jane The Road Ahead Maxi Dress

Warning for the short ladies: this puppy is loooong. I've seen pictures of people who have had it shortened and it looks great, so if you are willing to have it hemmed, you may be in luck! Here, I tied the bottom corner to take off some of the length, and it gave it a little something extra, too. I'm wearing this with a wedge heel...flat-footed or with flip flops, it's quiiiiite long.

This fabric is cool and stretchy and soft, and quite possibly one of the most comfortable things I've ever put on my body. It is, however, a bit clingy, so know that if you're hoping to hide lumps and bumps in this one, it'll be a little tricky. I've been told that this dress is very similar to the lularoe Julia (if that's your thing.........)

To really get the summer vibes going here, let me show you this dress paired with....the cutest MJ tote of all time.

MJ Blue Maxi Dress with Promo Tote

I. KNOW.

I squealed for hours when I first saw this tote and the ADORABLE POUCHES IT COMES WITH. OH YES.

totepromo2

Do you seeeeee those Kate Spade-y leather tassles on them?! They're also lined with water resistant fabric, which makes them perfect little makeup totes, or for stuffing wet bathing suits into on summer excursions. The interior of the tote is lined in the adorable summery flamingo fabric you see on the bottom right, and the exterior of both the tote and the pouches are made from an easy to clean coated canvas. Perfect for beach days, picnics, theme parks, playground outings, weekend trips - you name it, it'll serve you this summer.

The tote + pouches come together as a set for only $25 when you spend $175. Did you seeeee all that goodness up above?! That is not hard to achieve, belieeeeve me ;)

One last thing before I go.....me being totally bonkers with the girls hair accessories.

hairbow

MJ really stepped up their hair accessory game this season! My younger sister suggested that this Bow You Over Knit Bow headband would look cute on anyone, and one of my friends said it would look cute and artsy and so....on it went. And I didn't hate it.

In fact, that picture above is a very good snippet of me, in a nutshell. The flowers, the pink, the bow, the curls, the girly-girly-girly everywhere. Someone tell me how I ended up with 3 sons? ;)

March 2017 Reads

On The Fence by Kasie West
Another adorable YA romance from Kasie West, one of my favs! This one is about a tomboy in a family of brothers, including a brother-type from next door that grew up as part of the family. The main character goes through some emotional growth over the loss of her mom, and evolving into more of herself, while noticing that her relationship with her neighbor is changing. Loved it!

The Secret of a Heart Note by Stacey Lee
This book makes a perfect beach read - its flowy, descriptive prose has a pace perfect for sitting by the pool or lying under an umbrella by the shore. It's a little more slow moving than most YA books, but it's done in a gorgeous way as you get pulled into the magic and beauty of scent and plants and aromatherapy. It has just a slight hint of fantasy woven through real world struggles - parent/child, first love, high school hierarchy. It's a beautiful book!

The Crossroads of Should and Must by Elle Luna
I had no idea how artistic this book would be (duh, the cover should have been more of a clue), but the creative way this book presented the choice between passion and responsibility was fun, inspiring, and pretty. I loved it! It was entertaining, but also made me think without tying my mind up in complicated questioning. It's a quick must-read for creatives and not-so-creatives alike.

My Unscripted Life by Lauren Morrill
I expected this book to be a little more fun, but it was veeery cheesy. I gave it three starts, and it only earned its third star for a few passing moments in the love story part of the plot. I mean, it's YA...always a bit of a lottery. I can't blame it too much. If you're interested, though, it's about a girl who gets a job on a movie set that came to her small town for the summer and finds herself tangled up in a bit of a love triangle.

What Falls From the Sky by Esther Emery
I really really wanted to explore the path that this author took through this story - a year without the Internet. She took it to the extreme: canceling her internet service, ditching her smart phone. I don't think I could go that far, but I've been craving distance from our endless connectivity, so it was fascinating to study her experience. She described a life that was rich in creative, domestic, and social pursuits, the ways she grew as a result, and the hardships she faced as she navigated the uncharted waters of living somewhat off the grid. It was a beautiful, inspiring story that I can see myself turning to again.

Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
This. Was. Perfect. Toootally totally perfect. She completely spoke my language in regards to creativity, passion, and intentional living. It was a gorgeous and comforting read, and it was a perfect thing to take on vacation with me to push along the inspiration of a break from reality. I had this one from the library, but may need to add this to my library of creative wisdom!
