March Young Adult Reads

Something Real by Heather Demetrios

Loved this! This is a fun story - totally dramatic and dysfunctional and I'm not sure I've ever disliked so many characters in one book before. But Patrick is swoony, and seeing the chaos unfold was really fun - I wanted to read it all day!

Wonder by R.J. Palacio

I volunteer in my son's school library, and for the last year and half I've shelved this book so many times! I was so curious about it because it's always in rotation, and then I heard their librarian talk about how it changed her life. I needed to know what the deal was! It was a really fun and interesting read - I liked the format and the many points of view. Despite this being a 400 page novel, it was written for ten year olds so it wasn't exactly mind-blowing prose, but it was so sweet and insightful. The last chapter - one I don't think was part of the original book - mad the most impact on me, and hit me with a "yes!" moment. So if you read it, make sure you get a copy with the Julian chapter!
