7 Super Easy Ways to Be Eco-Conscious and Still Be *That Girl* This Earth Day

Earth Day is just around the corner, and while we all want to do our part to protect the planet, sometimes it can feel overwhelming. Between work, kids, and everything else, who has the time or energy to be an eco-warrior? But don't worry - I've got you covered.

I've come up with 7 easy, lazy-proof ways to honor Earth Day and still maintain your everyday luxuries and self-care!

1. Vow to Avoid Single Use Water Bottles All Spring

If you can go longer than that, by all means! But I know that when the Summer months hit, sometimes it's really hard to avoid grabbing a single-use water bottle as you're hustling out of the house. So if you can't give them up for good, or for the rest year, or even for a few months - challenge yourself to break out the Stanleys and the Yetis and the Swells and carry them with you always until June 20th!

2. Shop Secondhand at ThredUp (Or Any Thrift Store!)

I'm specifically pointing out ThredUp because I just shared my own spring & summer haul from them last week, but thrift shopping for secondhand wardrobe updates is a great idea no matter your source! Did you know that buying secondhand is great for the environment? By giving new life to pre-loved items, you're keeping them out of landfills and reducing the demand for new products. Plus, it's a great way to snag high-end brands at lower prices.

3. Put Your Phone Down and Read By Candlelight

Throw it back to the earlier branches of your family tree and spend some time reading by candle light. This is a simple way to reduce your energy consumption and carbon footprint, but you can also totally turn this into a cozy hygge moment for your mental health, too! Win win.

4. Show your support on a shirt

I mean...I have to say it. I made some adorable Earth Day tops for Cozy & Rych, and, you know...if you wanted to make a statement without actually saying anything, you can let one of these cuties do it for you. (The *that girls* I know totally would, wink wink)

5. Be Mindful of Your Water Consumption

End your shower a bit early, turn off the faucet while you're brushing your teeth, and cut back anywhere else you can think of to give the Earth just a little bit of a rest from our constant water usage!

6. Be the One Who Picks It Up (Pick Up Trash in Public)

How many times have you noticed a piece of litter floating around and just left it there? Not your trash, not your problem? Welllll someone has to pick it up eventually, or it becomes nature's problem. If you can't make it happen today, then pick a day that you vow to be the one who stops and picks it up. (Or, even better, vow to always be THAT girl.)

7. Use Reusable Bags and Containers Today (And beyond?)

Single-use products like plastic straws, paper towels, and disposable coffee cups are a major source of waste. By switching to reusable alternatives, you're not only reducing your carbon footprint, but you're also saving money in the long run. Vow to do it at least today, but keep it going for as long as you can!

Okay, okay, wait...I have a bonus one.

It's just that this one doesn't fit every "That Girl"...it's for a girl who adores a certain aesthetic, so I'm tacking it on at the end just for her. (Because I'm a little bit her myself.)

Bonus: Embrace the Cottagecore Life

The cottagecore aesthetic is all about living a simple, sustainable life in harmony with nature. Whether you're growing your own herbs or decorating with fresh flowers, embracing this trend is a great way to honor Earth Day. Plus, it's just so darn pretty.

Keep Mother Earth on your mind as you move through your day this April 22nd!

Let me know if you have any other super-simple ideas for being kind to the Earth while still being true to who you are!
